17

I was listening to the news on the radio this morning.  Rare opportunity for me.  I wasn't paying much attention to it until I heard an interesting statistic.

The average home has 178 channels.  That was not the interesting fact though.  With various means to access television, I am not surprised.  The surprising number was 17.  17 is the average number of channels a household watches.

Now for a bigger surprise.  The average cable bill is about $90.  That means a family is paying about $5.30 per channel just to watch those 17 channels....sinking in?

Do yourself a favor.  Dump cable or satellite or whatever means you have for viewing TV and go free if you are in a major market - free HD in most.  The Atlanta market has over 40 channels free with an antenna.

Save your money and take your family out to a movie or save for your future.  You will thank yourself later.
