Deuteronomy 8:17-18 NIV
"You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today."
I was up well beyond anyone's bedtime. My little girl was once again not sleeping (a habit that lasted the first two years of her life). I was watching infomercials because I did not want to be too interested in TV but there he was again. The eBay guy whose program would make me wealthy. As a stay home dad looking to do more with his life, the offer became more and more enticing. The next day I finally gave in and bought the system.
Don't get me wrong. Most of the information was good information. The problem was that most of it was also found in the eBay training videos online. eBay was very good at giving free information to buyers and sellers. I was determined to put the information into practice and began selling merchandise for the eBay guy and a box company. I never made much money until I sold some old records from my dad and father-in-law. I eventually earned the status of powerseller but that changed as eBay went through a long series of policy changes and leadership upheavals. Within three years, my business ceased being. My biggest profits were from selling rope. My best take home was eight hundred dollars in one sell.
I did not become rich with the work of my hands. During that entire episode in my life, I learned that I needed to know a lot more about business (thus the M.B.A.), and I learned that God had sustained us through the entire ordeal. Not once did my family have want. God gives us the ability to build wealth. We have to remember Him and that He gives us this ability to attain it.
Our nation needs to remember where its wealth and power were established. It was established on Judeo-Christian principles and faith. We are quickly heading down a path where people believe they are the sole provider of their existence. The way people have faith only in their own abilities and the growing resentment towards Christianity is frightening. The church is needed more today than ever before - not to bring judgment but to help people to remember the Lord.
This nation exists as long as freedom in Christ is respected and perseveres. It must persist or we cease being a united people. Christ once unified people to accomplish greatness in this country. We can return to Him but it will take Christians deciding to get off the sidelines and staying involved. "A dream worth having is a dream worth fighting for" sums up perseverance.
Continue to fight for freedom - Christ's freedom for He came to set us free. Only His truth can keep us free. Share the truth today.
