Wait and Again Wait

Psalm 27:14 NIV

"Wait for the Lord ; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord ."

I can be the worst at waiting on God.  I try too often to force His hand and sometimes He does give me what I ask.  I just don't receive what He planned for me due to my impatience.  Unfortunately, my wants can fall far below His plans.

I think the church may be in this same state of mind.  We react to and wail about the sins of the earth.  When is the last time we waited on the Lord?  When is the last time we spent time on our knees seeking His direction and His guidance?  Why isn't our response, more often, to pray instead?

When Peter was in prison, the church was on its knees praying.   When Paul and Silas were in prison, they prayed and sang hymns into the night.  When Jesus needed time alone, He spent it speaking to His Father.  Each was embolden.  Each carried renewed strength.

Peter walks out of the prison.  Paul and Silas lead a family to a relationship with Christ.  Jesus faced His death and rose to life.

Be strong and take heart.  If God is for us, who can be against us?  My God, my King, leads me.  Whom shall I fear as the cross goes before me?  We do not fight against flesh and blood but with the very powers of darkness.

Wait on the Lord.  Call your church together and pray.   To many "good" Christians fail because falling on their knees is uncool or passe'.  Prayer cannot remain beneath us.  Wait on the Lord and seek Him.  He is listening and ready to speak with us.  Who will heed this call?
