1 John 2:5-6 NIV
"But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did."
Obedience is the last thing most people wish to give in their life. I say this because so many people are convinced that truth is subjective and that freedom is for those who want to do whatever they wish.
Fortunately, truth is not subjective. It is not something you decide. All truth has a measure and that measure comes from God's Word - the Bible. Loving God is not complete until a person can accept His Word as the measure for truth and guidance for obeying Him. Jesus cannot be Lord of our life if we do not follow His Word. People get stuck believing that having Jesus as Savior is enough but He is also Lord and obedience to His Word - the Bible - shows we want Him as Lord and we love Him enough to follow Him.
Freedom is not being able to do what we want either. Freedom is the ability to be responsible. Jesus showed us that to live for God is to be obedient to Him and to love others. That is how we live as Jesus lived. A truly free person will love as Jesus loved, will follow God's design for life, and will never feel guilty for the life they lived.
If you feel guilty about the direction of your life, then try a life in Christ as your Lord and Savior. Live as Jesus lived by obeying God's Word and loving others.
