Psalm 37:4 NIV
"Take delight in the Lord , and he will give you the desires of your heart."
Remember the quarter machines? You know...the bubblegum and toy factories that give the greatest toys on earth! I remember the ones that had a list of the toys and I would be certain my quarter would get me the exact toy I wanted. Then the toy spider ring would pop out and I would wear it anyway.
God is not a quarter machine. If our delight is selfish, God will not aid in our selfishness. If our delight is in God, however, it means we are content with life. When God satisfies our heart, our desires are met. The amazing thing is that God helps us accomplish our goals in life, and it is so much more enjoyable than cheating or manipulating our way towards our desires.
The next time you set a goal try this. Pray for guidance in accomplishing it. Then be content. Don't let your desires over complicate your life. You may live a more joy filled life because the journey to the goal is not stressing you out. Then when you accomplish the goal celebrate. All along the way be thankful to God for the journey. He will be the difference.
