Isaiah 26:9 NIV
"My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness."
I have several posts started but I am praying through them. This verse spoke openly to me today.
A lot of crazy things seem to happen everyday. A young college student was gunned down by bored teens. A young man, heavily armed, walked into a school intent to kill. A three year old is killed in a gun battle. The world seems broken.
Some will call for gun control. They will blame the violence on the ownership of guns. They will seek to gain justice against the evil metal objects...what about dealing with the unrighteousness that plagues our nation? Why not get to the root of injustice which lies in the heart of mankind? Would not our efforts be better spent yearning for and longing for God night and day?
Changing our laws is not going to fix the heart of men. Only the salvation of a righteous God can return righteousness. Yet I do not hear any politicians calling for days of prayer. I do not see lawmakers on their knees before the righteous God.
What would change if we organized prayer walks instead of marches on the capitol? What would happen if our churches held prayer meetings instead of protests for justice? Do we yearn for God with our souls? Do we long for God in our spirits?
Before you join the next wave of social unrest, will you first drop to your knees and seek God? Jesus says we should seek first the kingdom of God and then righteousness will be added. What will you seek first?
