We Almost Died!

How many of you were paying attention to the super particle collider? They tested it for the first time this morning. The doomsayers had us being sucked into a black hole, opening a portal to the future (really cool for Stargate fans), or creating a self replicating particle that would swallow our entire world.

Me, I thought it would be cool to wake up in heaven, but at 3:39 am (9 minutes after the test) I awoke on the couch having fallen asleep watching The Great Escape (one of my favorite movies), and I found that everything was all normal.

Personally, I am kind of fascinated with man's desire to recreate God's creation with their big bang theory. Stephen Hawkins is one of those who said everything will be okay. he was right, but what a lot of people do not understand is that it is his primary goal in life to eradicate religion from all societies.

Their hope with the latest experiment with this 17 mile long particle beam is to create or measure things they made up in order to explain their theories. Most of the black matter and God particles they seek were named for something they cannot prove exists so they continue to try to seek more evidence for these ideas.

One of the funniest comments I have read about the whole subject was that even if they do not find anything they may find new technologies for medical procedures or for computer networking. Those are far removed from finding their creator.

But without making fun of this, I want to pose another thought. Would these experiments really be great if they led the scientists to one conclusion - there really is a Designer behind the design?

I think this is why I completely disliked Chemistry. I gave my teacher a hard time about the certainty of "just the facts". I had legitimate questions about the make-up of an atom. I wondered what they really looked like. I was wondering how we could know so much about something that we could not see.

Just think about it. Have you ever seen Men in Black? Do you remember the "Galaxy"? It was an entire galaxy pent up in a little vial. What about the Sci-Fi Channel commercial where the giant alien is using galaxies as marbles?

The galaxy is so infinite and so wonderful and so massive. No matter how close scientists get to finding their answers they only open up doors to even larger and more confusing mysteries. Theory after theory is blown out of the waters of understanding with each new discovery.

God is like that mystery. He is so big and so infinite and so impossible to understand fully; He has to give us little pieces to help us grasp life here on this earth. Like the scientists, no matter how deep we dig we do not get closer to understanding the fullness of God.

The idea that the earth will implode because of the hand of man is not an impossibility but at the same time it does not follow along with the Word of God. Anyway, I am glad we are still all alive after the explosion of light.
