God Keeps Promises - Isaiah 7:14

Isaiah 7:14 NIV

"Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel."

Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year. I enjoy all the lights, festivities, and the music (which I refuse to listen to until the day after Thanksgiving).  I enjoy being with friends and family.   I even enjoy the cooler weather though if I was from south of the equator I probably would not.

Can you imagine the anticipation of Mary and Joseph?  She carried the gift we now celebrate, and he was tasked to care for them both.  Over 400 years of waiting and on that night, Immanuel was born.  I get goose bumps thinking about how precise Scripture is.  Isaiah never saw the results of this prophecy but he is credited with its impact.

My family and I talked about the prophecies surrounding the birth of Jesus, and God told us who, what and where but not when. Herod had all the children 4 years old and younger massacred when he heard about the birth of a new king. If he had known when, he may of tried to have every child killed that was born in Bethlehem for years. Who knows what could have happened so God kept the probable disaster from happening. I wonder how many times He has done this in my life?

Enjoy this season of celebration. God is faithful to His promises.
