Be Humble - 1 Peter 5:6

1 Peter 5:6 NIV

"Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time."

Pride is an indicator of one's self-confidence.  The more prideful we are the more likely the less confidence we may have in ourselves, so we let everyone know how good we really are...but they know the truth.

Pride is not altogether bad.  Pride can reveal passion.  Only when left unchecked does it grow out of control. Peter says check your pride at the front door. Peter is one to know after being humbled by Christ through his denials.

When we lower our view of ourselves,  we allow room for improvement.  We can grow and learn and achieve more. Pride says we are there and lack nothing.  God knows us better.  There is no greater reason to have a humble spirit than in the presence of the one who knows us best.

God will humble us but He will also pick us up. When the moment comes that He prepared you for, God will take you by the hand and lead you through it but He will be looking for you to use the talents He gave you and the grace He placed within you.

God is not looking for puppets, nor does God want to carry us all the time. He created us to soar.  The next time He humbles you, remember He is preparing you for something, and He will lift you up. Put your confidence in Him and prepare to soar.
