Life is Wasted on Foolish Pursuits

Okay, so I have gone through all these tests to see why my stomach has been hurting me. They can't find anything but swelling around my spine. Could that be the problem? Who knows?

All I know is that I do not have cancer. I give God the glory and praise.

I like many of you have seen the problems our government is having. They have squandered a lot of resources and pretend to be in control while frantically screaming in circles like chickens with their heads cut off. Now for those of you thinking that I am writing about politics, Yes and No.

A couple of posts ago I said my Sunday school class would be going through the book, Don't Waste Your Life, by John Piper. Part of wasting life has to do with wasting resources God gives us.

For example, God gives us life eternal through faith in Christ. In other words accepting Jesus as Savior and living as He requires. Much of this is wasted when we do the accepting and lazily live a Christian life. Christianity is a lifestyle. It is a way of life - not a title.

Another example is how we treat the earth. God has given us a beautiful world to live on. We have plenty of resources yet many of us do not know how to care for these resources. Don't believe me - just walk down the road and look at the trash.

Our government was entrusted with governing and they let power get to their heads. They forget the who and the how and developed their own little world in which governing is no longer equal to the common man. They have become elitist in nature.

Now I am not pointing out particular people. Our government as a whole has generated this pseudo-identity. I mention our government because we can all identify something that is faked or a ruse. Just like those who do not believe in Christ can see fake Christianity. We either live for Christ or we do not.

Look at Ephesians 3:19:

May you experience the love of Christ, though it is so great you will never fully understand it. Then you will be filled with the fullness of life and power that comes from God." (NLT)

Fake Christians are trying to create a fulfilling life. They fail to understand that the beginning of life starts with the love of Christ, the love of God which was planned out from the beginning of Creation.

Life is wasted on foolish pursuits. These pursuits stem from a belief that man is alone to create a suitable lifestyle. i understand that culture defines many people but what culture tells us is that we are created and they we seek our essence or significance.

God tells us quite the opposite. God tells us that we are created with purpose, and that purpose is to worship Him. However, many have conceptionalized worship as bowing to some altar or idol and dumbly chanting some mantra.

The truth is that worship is taking the time to experience God's love. Countless times God tells us just to stand still or be still and Know he is God. To know God is to experience His love. Life is wasted on so many things that mock real love.

Our completion comes from God and is not found in others. Others give us a chance to express the love of God that we have received. Why? God's love is not meant for us to just receive. It is meant to be acted upon. This is why so many church bodies are failing. They have their holy compounds and huddles but other than expressing their love to God in a worship moment or through sending out disgust mail to those who sin, they do not act out in love. They are more about being right than doing right.

Righteousness is not about being right. It is a title bestowed upon those who do the right thing. So here is the question. Do you falsely wear the title of Christianity? Are you ready to change that perception?

Just because someone has misshaped their Christian lifestyle doesn't mean God cannot fix it. I am a prime example of that. I wish I had room to list the sins I have been guilty of. I do have room to point to one fact, God has forgiven them and forgotten. So I work ever so much more diligently at living a life worthy of Christ.

You also can be filled with "the fullness of life and power that come from God". You, however, are the only one who can make that decision.
