1 Chronicles 29:13 NIV
"Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name."
I enjoy seeing people post their month of Thanksgiving posts on Facebook (or at least trying to commit to it). I did not get into it, but I appreciate the efforts of others. If King David had Facebook, I am sure he would have posted thanks to God also.
When you read about why David was thanking God, you read that Israel had completed gathering all the material necessary to build the temple (This might be a good opportunity to show why we should gather our materials and resources instead of plunging ourselves into debt...). David was thankful. He gathered the people around, and he prayed. He prayed because he realized that everything given was already God's, and the people were unselfish in returning a portion of what belonged to Him.
God had provided everything the people needed, and when they were unselfish in their giving, they compiled a massive offering composed of their time, talents, and money. Then they praised and thanked God. They praised Him by bowing prostrate before God.
Take time to thank God with your time, talents, or money this week. Put the giving in the thanks.
