Sowing and Reaping

Galatians 6:9 NIV

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up."

It's the day after Christmas.  Family has gone or is still in bed.  You are awake because the rush of Christmas has given you insomnia.  You look at what's left to be cleaned and picked up.  Weariness begins to set in....

Sometimes when we are wound up in a giving and caring mode, we awaken one day to find ourselves tired because we have not taken time for ourselves to regenerate and rest.

Sometimes we grow tired of caring because it does not seem to be making a difference.   We ask ourselves what the point is anymore.

Whatever the situation, do not give up.  Don't let Christmas be your coup d'etat - the overthrow of your giving spirit. Take a moment to rest and rise again to keep doing good.  The time will come when you least expect for a harvest.  Maybe it comes in the form of good will.  Maybe it arrives in renewed relationships.   Maybe your harvest awaits in the splendor of heaven.  Don't give up.

You are a difference maker.  The world needs more people doing good.  The world needs true hope and as Christians we have it to give.  Jesus will not give up on you so do not give up on Him.

Christmas does not have to be year-round for us to do good.  Doing good is contagious.   You reap what you sow.  Of course, you already knew that didn't you...
