Lohan Celebrity Debacle

FOXNews has a love affair with celebrity news.  I was watching the news yesterday when the news alert noise and the alert background flashed across the screen.  I anticipated a great story - world peace, oil spill stopped, bin Laden surrenders as he embraces a new faith....

Anything earth shattering?  NO.  Lindsay Lohan is going to jail.  What?  Here I am bracing for a huge story and the FOXNews celebrity lust hounds come bounding in with a story that really ranks number one on my doldrums list.

This is not the first love affair FOX has had with celebrity news.  Michael Jackson still gets brought up.  The stripper - Ana Nicole Smith - is still getting air time.  Celebrity after celebrity is paraded across the screen (Hannity is one of the worst) with some new book, new insight on where to find bin Laden, or some mind numbing diatribe about something.

FOX please stop!

Look at your own Top Ten Headlines:

Who cares if LeBron James is making a billion dollars?  The team that gets him deserves to go into bankruptcy for even considering to pay such a selfish player.

If you think that Lindsay is just a momentary blip on FOX's screen, then you have another thing coming:

Look at this:

These are just three blips of news from FOX!  All have to do with Lindsay - the rest had to do with Jessica Simpson, Wonder Woman and other news-less stories.

Come on FOX - give me some real news.

I am not trying to hate on celebrities.  They are people with regular jobs.  They are not, however, the little gods that the news media makes them out to be.  I have favorite actors and actresses (okay some are dead - old films are just better).  I understand the joy that movies and music and some television shows bring.  None of them compares to God's peace and joy.

Celebrities have opinions also but why do they get all the air time?  Why not get a person off the street?  Afraid of the almighty ratings bug?

Am I jealous?  Not at all.  I do not care for all that fanfare.  I like being able to go to the grocery store and not be mugged.  I like not having my face splashed across the news world just because I cut my grass.  Leave the actors and musicians alone.  Most are really neat people.  Some unfortunately have been given a big head from your overenthusiastic doting and from how much people spend on their stuff.

I know "celebrities" can be easy going people because I had one email me first and we exchanged emails about an album collection I was selling.  Down to earth!  I did not dote - just thanked him for his music and moved on.

Please FOX, if you are going to have a news alert let it be about real news.  When you need to talk about the unfortunate failings of movie actresses who haven't had a real life because they are too busy trying to live up to your expectations, then create a slot for it - Lindsay going to jail is not a NEWSFLASH!  No wonder they crash and burn.

Okay I am finished.  I'll still watch.  I have just had enough.  Live in moderation and change the world.  God bless.
