You Can Know For Sure

For the next few days, our church will be involved in street evangelism and revival services. Tommie Zito, a known evangelist, has brought his team of hard-core street evangelists into our town and are taking people from our church into the streets and teaching them evangelism.

I have my opinions on what is happening but will remain silent for a while about it. They are earnest people looking to shake up communities by giving everyone they meet chances to accept or reject the simplicity of the Good News that Jesus brought to the earth:
  • First, God loves you more than anything
  • Second, God has an amazing plan for your life
Knowing these two simple points, how sure are you about whether or not you will go to heaven when you die? If you believe you are on a path to get to heaven, why do you think you will get there?

Jesus loves you so much that He was willing to die for you. Not just die, but also open a direct link to relationship with God. But why did He have to do this? As the Bible says:
  • All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
  • The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
  • God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
  • If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
  • ...for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
People complicate this issue, but the Bible is plain: you (you are part of "everyone") can know for sure that you are going to heaven. All you have to do is confess that Jesus is your Lord and Savior by receiving Him into your life to change you through the forgiveness of your sins and making the decision to follow Him.

It is that simple. It is so simple this is what the Bible also says bout it:

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)

God is not in a hurry to annihilate the world (or you). He is patient and gives us each a chance to come to Him. What an awesome way to be a part of the greatness He has for our lives and to experience the love He wants to show us.

Ask God to forgive you, change you, turn your heart to Him, and to be a part of your life. Let Him know you want to spend your life honoring Him. That's all you have to do to start your journey in a life of faith. You don't have to get things straight first. God is good at making crooked things straight.

If you have talked to Him about this, then know this - you will make mistakes and it is okay. Just understand that when you do make a mistake, don't run away from God but go to Him - that's what He is there for.

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Romans 5:1 (NLT)

Walk in peace, get into a good Bible believing church, and follow Jesus.
