Now Not Later - Romans 14:11

It is written: “ ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ ”
Romans 14:11 NIV

Sometimes, as Christians, we can become overexuberant in our quest to share our faith.  Mind you, we are to be radical in our faith.  We are to share it with anyone who will listen.  Yet we are to also be gentle - not push overs - but gentle.

I guess my exuberance extends from a desire to keep all people out of the pits of hell.  Confession of faith in Christ will come to all people.  No one will be able to escape this confession.  The timing, however, will be the difference.

If I confess that Jesus is my Lord before I die here on earth, then I am assured a place in heaven as long as I live out this faith.  If I do not confess Him as my Lord nor ask for forgiveness, then I will be held accountable for my actions here on earth, and I will be judged by God's law - yep, starting with the Ten Words or Commandments.

When people find out that there is no reprieve from a failure to keep God's law here on earth as they stand before Christ, they will find out the judgement He will pass is final.  All who stand before Him in judgment will bow to their  knees and acknowledge God in act of humility and in an act of futility.  Judgment on that side of death will be an eternal punishment. It will be too late to confess then.

So if I seem exuberant in my faith, especially in sharing it, I do so because I do not want people to face that judgment.  No one will be strong in that moment. This is why Jesus came to us.  He came to give us a chance - no matter where we are in life.

Confess your sins, accept His forgiveness, and follow Him.  Easier to do it now than to face Him in judgment.  Easier to face His love now than to see Him turn His back on you later in a hasty confession as He stands before you in judgment.  Start being accountable while you have a chance to experience His passion and His love for you.  Don't wait for it to be too late.
