“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28 NIV
I like the first three words of this passage. They are one of many invitations to approach Jesus. He is unlike any other king. Most kings could not be approached without pomp and circumstance and a special invitation. Jesus just says come to me - not my envoy, not those around me but to me.
There is a section of the gospel that records a moment when the apostles tried to shoo away some children but Jesus stops them and invites the children to Himself. Jesus is a personal Savior.
Here He is inviting all who are tired and need some relief from their troubles. Here He invites those who are burdened or carrying too much for one person. Jesus provides peace and rest. He provides relief and help. Jesus provides and is providing.
The catch? We have to take steps towards Him. He has already stepped towards us. We have to trust Him. So what do you say? Can you trust Him enough to let Him provide peace? Go ahead, talk to Him. You will never be the same.
