Your Full Potential

Ephesians 1:9-10 NIV

"he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment—to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ."

I like a good mystery novel.  I like the  surprises and the suspense.  Sherlock Holmes is probably my favorite though I enjoyed the Hardy Boys growing up.

What I cannot stand however is the mystery that divided me from God. My wife reminded me of a saying this morning,  "You do not know what you are missing until it is gone."

As a young teen, I had made a commitment to follow Christ but as I became older I allowed life's influences to lead me on a different path.  I was missing the influence of God in my life, and I made tons of mistakes with my education and in my relationships with others.  God's will for my life had waned in me.

Returning to a relationship with Christ I found a new passion and a new drive.  Everything took a turn for the better. I was fortunate.  There are plenty of people in the world who have never had the influence of God in their life, and they spend a lifetime trying to uncover the mystery through their passions whether seeking it through work, friendships, money, or even power. The mystery always eludes them.

Because God's will eludes them, they only achieve a small portion of their own potential - not their full potential multiplied by God. That is the missing link in life - never reaching or finding one's full potential and never finding it in one's passions or desires.  Never being fulfilled because only God can provide fulfillment.

The purpose of Christ is to help us reach our fullest potential - what we were created for. The stars truly do align with Him loosely speaking. Christ brings unity to life, and to beat all, God's pleasure is bringing that unity into our lives and unveiling the mystery within. We were created to worship, and our lives, and how we live them, reflect it.

Just look at what takes up most of your time and how much you dislike being interrupted - that is where your worship resides. Let God adjust your worship.  That is where the mystery ends and life begins.
