Principles of the Christian Vote

Yesterday, a Congressional panel decided to engage America by inviting a popular comedian to comment on the subject of illegal immigration.  I personally do not care who goes before Congress if the person has knowledge to convey about the subject.  I do care when Congress (with an approval rating under 20%) continues to denigrate our system of government by inviting a "character" actor to come and testify in character!  Not only did they invite Colbert, the invited him and swore him in as the character not as the person!

I am sicken at how far leadership has fallen in our government.  Congress has a low approval rating because they do not take the reins of leadership seriously.  The Democrats and the Republicans are both to blame.  Many in Congress are there for a job and for the power.  There are very few who are there because they care.  Just look at Senator Murkowski in Alaska.  She lost her seat to another candidate.  She was challenged and lost.  Instead of listening to the voice of the people who did not want her, she listened to her bruised ego and is now asking to be a write-in candidate.  For her, Congress is a job opportunity to further her career not represent the public.

People are revolting with their votes and for this I commend them.  The problem with any revolt is how do you know who to vote for and what to look for in a candidate.  I have a series of posts that deal with this very topic developed from a lecture by Charles Finney:
I would probably add one more to this list - A leader who rebels against personal debt.  Why?  Someone who lives a life debt free is a person who will make better decision when spending public money!  They are also less distracted.

I hope you are taking part of the coming elections.  Choose wisely.  Listen closely.  Pray earnestly.  Be involved or you may live to regret it.
