The Good in Creation - Psalm 100:5

For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5 NIV

I finally see why the creation story is so important to the Christian faith.  When God created the heavens and the earth, He saw that they were....Good.  Everything He created was good...including humans.  Sin marred this goodness.

God, however, refuses to give up on what He created.  His love never fails and endures forever.  He comes to us to reclaim the good.  What's so good about humanity?  The image of God.  The creation story in Genesis 1 is not about our fall; it is about God's desire to be with what is good.  Genesis 2 tells us why God pursues us.  We fell to sin.  We tried to be god...but we can't because we are only His image...His goodness which is marred when sin appears.

We are now born into a marred reality...marred by sin which repressed God's goodness.  So God sends His goodness, His Son, to reclaim His image...us.  He faithfully pursues us through every generation. His enduring love seeks to draw us to Him.  God does this by using grace to cover every sin...for those who chose to receive it.  Then He replaces the marred image with His own again...the image of His Son....His goodness.

God refuses to give up on you because you were created in His goodness.  No matter how bad life gets...God is pursuing you to comfort you and replace sin's damage with His goodness.  The Creation story needs to be fully embraced if we are to fully accept His passion for us...for the Lord is good and His love endures.  Let God embrace you today.  He really does love you.
