Helping Others

Galatians 6:9-10 NIV

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

A friend of mine went through a leadership course which opened his eyes to the community in which he worked. He became very excited about one particular nonprofit and found a way to help it.  Through hard work and much volunteering, he had grown the event he brought to the area and now it is a large fundraiser for this nonprofit.

Because Earl did not give up and kept working to do good, there is a harvest of new leaders from the event and of giving towards a fantastic organization that houses mothers and their kids while they get back on their feet.

I highlight this to show that until the church becomes a part of its community, it will struggle to find a way to help others. As a new church, we are constantly looking to find a place to help, whether it is church members taking food to the homeless shelter next door or providing free classes on debt reduction or parenting or even marriage.  In time churches that continue to do good will reap a harvest.

Our vision statement says we are looking to connect people into the community.  We do this by caring for the community of believers as Paul says in our passage and by taking the love of Christ into the community through serving others.

As we find the opportunity, we are planning to serve others on a regular basis. It takes time that we have to set aside, and it takes resources human and monetary.  We do this not for ourselves but because this is how God designed it and it brings glory to Him.

If you are in the area and are looking for a church to help in, visit us.  If not, find a church, or help your church become a church, that does good works at every opportunity.
