Psalm 130:5 NIV
"I wait for the Lord , my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope."
Is there any better way to spend your time? So many people busy themselves and fail to create time for God. Pentecostals once known for prayer take the fast food version of prayer as time well spent with God (15 minutes of prayer is too long)....
I am sad. We DVR. We schedule time for kids games. We get up early for work. What is happening to us?
Schedule a prayer meeting and no one shows up. Ask for people to come and pray at the altar and people are up in five minutes and sneaking out.
How can we say we are waiting for the Lord when we are hurrying to the restaurant or to a ballgame? How can we wait on the Lord when we do not schedule any time for Him - when we fail to purposely put Him first?
The psalmist says his whole being waits. That is effort. I am not saying we sit still and let the world pass by. I am saying we should put more intent in our waiting. God's Word is full of mighty acts of God that happened when people waited on Him. The first apostles waited and the Holy Spirit worked His way into the hearts of 3000. What would happen if we start waiting?
We wait for Thanksgiving, for birthdays, for Christmas, and for vacations. We look forward more for these than we do for a genuine move of God. Maybe I am not speaking to anyone other than myself.
We need to start truly waiting. We need to stop hurrying worship. We need to wait on the Lord with our whole being. Trust in God's Word. It is not a bunch of stories to help us feel good. It is a window to show us what happens when we wait. What will you wait for?
