My family and I discussed 1 Thessalonians 5:11 yesterday morning. It had me thinking about building with Legos. My kids both have sets for building creative homes and vehicles. When they build, there are times when they just create without plan or direction. Originally they would stack and stack until they could not stack any more. Now they are more cautious in how the pieces work together. Their creations match their ideas. They use the plans given to them for each set.
I say all this for a reason. Encouragement requires us to look at people as God sees them. They need people to teach and to establish them in faith. Building up people requires an intentional effort by the church. Our plans to disciple others must be deliberate. We have the perfect guide - the Bible. We have the perfect inspiration - Jesus. We have the perfect teacher- the Holy Spirit. What the church may lack, however, is your involvement.
How are you involved in your church? Are you learning or trying to learn more about your faith? Are you being an example for others? Or are you teaching in a Sunday school , bible study, or home group? If you are a pastor, are you being deliberate in your discipleship efforts?
Get involved and may the peace of Christ be with you. It is worth the journey.
