People who practice tolerance lack conviction. They refuse to commit to anything unless they have public opinion on their side. The more I thought about this the more I realize that without real convictions a person lacks direction. If you do not have direction, how can you ever have vision?
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)
This is the largest problem with politicians and our current government - they lack vision because they are too busy trying to live as if they are "tolerant". They cannot hear from God because their party politics are more important that the convictions given to us by the Holy Spirit. For politicians, this shows up in the way they frame the "issues" they wish to champion.
Take a look at the Republicans running for Governor in Georgia:
Nathan Deal has not listed anything on his site about issues - that way you can't hold him to anything.
John Oxedine has a limit number of issues listed but they are eerily similar to the set up of Karen Handel's website.
Eric Johnson (who?), from Savannah for those who have yet to hear about him, spent more time telling what he did on his issue page and lists a few one sentence issues he will support.
Karen Handel has a whole page of issues she supports with a small video to reinforce each statement made about the issues.
Of the four - who would you say has convictions? Since that person has convictions, do think she has a vision for Georgia?
Instead of attacking Karen for speaking to a group of gay people - who are flesh and blood like you and me - why not discuss how you can handle the job of governor and implement your vision. Oh, I forgot, unless you have a vision then you may not be able to express yourself in that manner.
I am glad Karen spoke to the Log Cabin Republicans in Georgia. I may believe homosexuality is a sin but I am not going to condemn them to hell. I think until Christians find common ground they will never earn the right to share the saving love of Jesus Christ with those who live in the homosexual lifestyle. Carrying large signs that say homosexuals are bound for hell is not how Jesus would have done it. No! Jesus dealt with people face to face - including laying hands on ten lepers and healing them of their disease.
Wake up Christian conservatives, and let's get the voice of Jesus heard.
As for those without vision, well without a vision the people perish! God is shaking the foundations of the United States and the state of Georgia - are we going to listen or are we going to live as if everything is just fine?
- Instead of being tolerant, why don't we learn to be like Jesus and act with patience?
- Let's start living with convictions and sticking to those convictions!
- Let's look for people who have convictions and will live by those convictions as elected officials (instead of like the wishy-washy White House administration).
