Praying for Haiti

I had not heard the news about Haiti until I arrived home late last night. It's amazing how sequestered we can become when we are busy. Watching some of the scenes unfolding there, I will be surprised if it doesn't take decades for this extremely poor nation to recover.

More surprise came when I found out the band members of Julian Drive were in Port-a-Prince during the earthquake. Their family has yet to hear from them, but that is not a complete surprise since there is so much chaos and turmoil in that region. There has almost been a complete infrastructure collapse with a few being able to get word out about their condition. Hopefully the band members can get to the US Consulate and get word to their families. I have known a couple of the members (Shane Bowers and Shaun Bennett) for a number of years, and it hits home when you discover that friends are in the midst of such destruction.

In the United States we have seen ugly and deadly earthquakes in the state of California. The big difference is the resources we have to recover. Please begin praying and seeing how you can get involved in sending relief to this nation. Operation Compassion is a great place to start.

God bless.
