Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
Hide and seek is a popular game. My kids used to love playing it when they were little. They would make their uncle play it with them every time he came to visit. Of course, they giggled and stood out. My son always hid in the same spot because he was sure we could not find him there. Eventually the house provided too few new hiding spaces and the kids got really good at finding each other (even hiding under blankets behind their parents).
Toys and important items are a different story. I can lay something down and forget within minutes where it was and swear the kids were playing hide and seek with it. My kids had special toys they used to snuggle with during nap times. Lose those toys and naps were a new adventure - and boy did that happen once too often.
I am glad God doesn't play hide and seek. He is always around us. Though there are times He may seem silent or distant from us, He is usually just stepping back to see if we are still pursuing Him. He tells us through Jeremiah that when we seek Him we will find Him. If we do not, we may need to see if our heart is really into it...seeking Him that is.
I find I have a hard time finding Him when I wander from Him. These short devotionals help me to stay close - to find Him. I hope you are staying close with me. Seek Him with all your heart and see how easy He is to find.
