Isaiah 40:28-29 NIV
"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak."
There is a verse that tells us that people cannot hear unless someone tells them about God. For Isaiah, an Israelite would have to have been a recluse not to know of God's love. He was surprised by the way people listened. They were in church one day and forgetful the next...
Isaiah reveals some of the character of God. God is everlasting. We cannot outlast Him. Everything we see in creation is from Him. The biggest difference between creation and God - creation runs out of energy.
God is the Creator of all things. If you haven't noticed, the earth is not flat. It is round which means you can never find an end to what He created - no matter how small or how far away.
God never grows tired or weary. I do not know how I can add more to this other than to say He is always available. He does not have a "hold" button. God chooses to be a part of our lives.
God's understanding is immeasurable. To fathom means to get to the solution of or to the bottom of something. Sailors used weights to check the depth of the waters to make sure they did not run aground. We will never run aground when we trust in God.
God gives. He gives strength to the weary. Hope goes a long way on its own. Hope in Christ, however, reaches into eternity. Sure we grow tired from time to time. God is there to remind us of His great love. He strengthens us. He encourages us. Then He increases the power within us to be stronger when we are weak, even in our lowest points. He has given us the Holy Spirit who gives us the power to carry on - to persevere.
Whatever you are facing, you do not face alone. Ask God for the strength and the power to face it. His Son died so you can have access to Him. His Spirit is a gift so you can be revived by Him. Now you know and you have heard. Do not run aground; trust in God.
